Beautiful Set of 6 Antique Whiting Manufacturing Co. “Louis XV” Sterling Silver Five O’Clock Teaspoons / Coffee Spoons in Original Presentation Box
Up for sale is a gorgeous, matching set of six (6) genuine antique sterling silver spoons in the highly desirable and ornate Louis XV pattern by the famous Whiting Manufacturing Company .
Dating back to the late Victorian era / turn-of-the-century, this pattern features exquisite Rococo Revival styling with elegant scrolls, sweeping curves, and detailed shell motifs.
Item Condition & Features:
- Authenticity: Each spoon is clearly stamped on the back of the handle with the official Whiting hallmark (the stylized “W” and griffin/winged lion), “STERLING”, and the design patent mark “PAT. 1891”.
- Sizing: These are the delicate Five O’Clock Teaspoons / Coffee Spoons , measuring exactly 5.38 inches (5 3/8″) long. They are scaled beautifully for afternoon tea, dessert courses, or espresso/coffee service.
- Total Weight: 91.8 grams total for all 6 spoons (averaging approximately 15.3 grams per spoon).
- Presentation Box: Includes the original, antique faux-leather textured paper presentation hard case with a fitted, silk lined interior. The bottom of the box retains its historic printed patent information dating back to the late 19th/early 20th century.
- Condition: Overall excellent antique condition. The silver retains crisp, deep details with gorgeous natural patina and minor surface tarnish appropriate for its 100+ year age. No monogram removals or heavy damage. The original box shows typical exterior scuffing, edge wear, and interior fabric discoloration/fading from age, adding wonderful historic character.
